|
|
One of our members asked me to post some of my favorite series of shows.
Here they are. With number one being my most favorite. Two my second favorite and so on.
1. CBS Radio Mystery Theater
2. Sherlock Holmes (Rathbone / Bruce)
3. Adventures Of Frank Merriwell
4. Escape
5. Father Knows Best
6. Barry Craig Confidential Investigator
7. Unexpected
8. 2000-Plus
9. X Minux One
10. Suspense
11. Rocky Jordan
12. Mysterious-Traveler
13. Lights-Out
14. Inner-Sanctum
15. Box 13
16. Ellery Queen
17. Mystery Is My Hobby
18. Yours Truly Johnny Dollar
19. Nick Carter
20. Chase
It's hard to put them in order. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a comedy, sometimes a mystery or maybe horror. They're all good though.
Let's have more people post their favorites and see what we come up with.

Ok. Great idea, Brad, even though this is a little hard. I have listened to a lot more comedy than mystery, but I have learned that I do like the mystery shows, so here is my try at this:
1. Our Miss Brooks
2. Mysterious Traveler
3. Father Knows Best
4. Suspense
5. Ozzie and Harriet
6. Jack Benny
7. Calling All Cars
8. CBS Radio Mystery Theatre
9. Aldridge Family
10. Family Doctor
11. Smiths of Hollywood
12. Fibber McGee and Molly
13. Burns and Allen
14. The Great Gildersleeve
15. Phil Harris/Alice Faye show
16. Sherlock Holmes (Rathbone and Bruce)
17. My Friend Irma
18. Spike Jones
19. Command Performance
20. It's a Crime, Mr. Collins
That was hard and I'm not certain I got it right, but there are lots of great shows.

Interesting. So much to choose from. Let's see....
1 Fibber McGee and Molly. No other show makes me laugh all the time and I love the verbal comedy.
2 Gunsmoke. No explanation necessary.
3 Suspense. Again, explanation not necessary.
4 The Adventures of Philip Marlowe.
5 Rocky Jordan. (A new one for me but a great show)
6 Life of Riley.
7 Nightbeat
8 Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet
9Sears/Mutual Radio Theater
10 Nightfall
11 Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
12 The Whistler
13 Mr. District Attorney
14 Great Gildersleeve
15 Our Miss Brooks
16 Escape
17 Mary Noble Backstage Wife (I wish we had more of this)
18 Magnificent Montague
19 My Favorite Husband
20 Nero Wolfe |

What shows do you want added to the members directory. I'm adding shows all the time but just tell me what's missing that you want added and I'll try to put them up right away. If I don't have them, I'll do my best to find them or order them from a catalog. I want this to be a one-stop place for all of you to listen to your favorite shows.

Brad,
You must work really hard on uploading. You have a really nice selection of shows. Thanks for all your hard work. I don't want to be the only one ever asking for shows, but I happen to believe you really do mean it when you say you would like to get the shows people want to listen to. Do you happen to have the Johnson Family? I have seen that on OTRCAT and it sounds really interesting.
I hope others will also make their requests known.
Thanks, Brad.

Hi Brad
Thanks for all the hard work you do to keep this Great OTR Site going, Your otr music show collections are very impressive. There is another show which is called JUBILEE.
Jubilee was another in a series of "For The Troops" broadcasts that was aired for military personnel, but never broadcast at home. It contained a live-studio audience, and jazz performances of Count Basie, Duke Ellingyton, Max Roach and many others.some of the guests included Jack Benny and Rochester Anderson
There are some really great vintage jazz performances on these shows.
Thanks Kevin |

Dang, how did I forget to add the Shadow to my list??!
What is OTR without the Shadow? Man, now I got to figure out something to bump. Oh, well, we'll make it 21. |
