| Why don't you post some of the Roy Rogers and Gene Autry shows from radio. Roy had several programs beginning in 1944, when he was sponsored by (of all things) Goodyear Tires. It was a musical program, with maybe a short sketch thrown in. In 1948, he was sponsored by Quaker Oats and Mother's Oats, and the shows were more dramatized with a Roy and Dale duet at the end. In the Fifties, he was sponsored by Post Cereals (as he was on television) and of course had Dale Evans, Pat Brady, and the Whipperwills. His last radio show was in 1955 when he was sponsored by Dodge Trucks. Gene Autry's Melody Ranch ran on CBS for 16 years, sponsored by Wrigley's Doublemint Chewing Gum. Autry even was sworn into military service on his radio show during WWII. After the war, he extended his program from 15 minutes to a half hour. This gave him more time for songs and also a short dramatic sketch with his comedy pal, Pat Buttram. When Jack Benny left NBC to come to CBS, he was given Autry's spot on Sundays at 7 p.m., because that was when listeners were used to hearing Benny. Autry was switched to Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and later came back to Sundays at 6 p.m. for the remainder of his radio run. |

We have a set of "Roy Rogers" in the club area.
