Just as cigarettes were promoted as being "safe to the throat" or "soothing" or having "freshness" (all this sans the cancer warnings in the pre-1960's), I have noticed other lies.
For instance, during the first 200 or so Great Gildersleeve shows, you can hear commercials from Parkay Margarine.
According the commercials, Parkay is a tremendous energy-booster and contains something like 10,000 grams of protein (always pronounced pro TEE un.) And who's going to eat an entire package of margarine? |
