| The late Jack Carney was a St. Louis radio host and disc jockey, largely daytime as I remember. He often told a story about a baseball player who routinely ignored his third base coach's signal to stop, and he kept going toward home plate. One day the coach brought a starter-pistol to the game and as the player went past his stop signal the coach fired the pistol into the air. That's about as much of the story as I can remember. Can anyone provide the finish for me? Thanks in advance, Shel |
