The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a BBC radio comedy/science fiction/theater of the absurd series. It follows the adventures of Arthur Dent, a rather dull and conventional Englishman, who falls in with the President of the Universe, Ford Prefect (an alias). Together, they escape the Earth just before it is destroyed by the Vogons, not because of malice or desire for conquest, but because it's in the path of a new galactic bypass.

And then the story starts to gets strange.

The series was immensely popular and led to sequels, novels, and a movie. It was scripted by Dounglas Adams, also known as the creator of Dirk Gently, the holistic detective. Adams was known for relentlessly retouching and polishing the scripts, often delivering revised versions as the show was already being aired.
