McLevyJames McLevy (1296-1875) was a Edinburgh detective and author of mystery stories. This BBC series dramatized stories inspired by his career and writings and aired from 2000-2016. Each episode is approximately three-quarters of an hour long. The stories are well-crafted and well-performed, but some American listeners may find the Scottish accents used by the performers to be problematic. Some think that McLevy may have helped inspire Arthur Conan Doyle to write detective stories, as Doyle was in medical school in Edinburgh while McLevy was active as a detective.
