The Hollywood Barn Dance

The Hollywood Barn Dance was a half-hour show featuring western (as in "movie westerns") music interspersed with light-hearted banter and the occasional comedy skit. Hosted by Cottonseed Clark, it featured popular western-style singing groups and performers of the time, such as the Carolina Cotton; Johnny Bond; and the Sunshine Girls, with whom Mary Ford sang before she met Les Paul.

(As an aside, since many periodicals referred to their pin-up pictures as "sunshine girls," I could not find any useful links to the singing group, but you can find a few videos of their performances on YouTube.)

Guests included major stars such as Bob Hope and Roy Rogers. The show aired on CBS from 1943 to 1948.
